A lot going on –

USA still on path of 500+ deaths per day

World on path of 5k-7k deaths per day

Italy had 800+ deaths yesterday – appears to have hit a plateau

Spain had 500+ deaths yesterday – also hitting a plateau

France going up – 400+ deaths yesterday

USA deaths per MIL creeping up – now at 9 deaths per MIL people

Italy and Spain very high – 192, 157 respectively

NY seeing 5k+ new cases per day

Trump has extended his stay at home plan to April 30th – pushed back 2 more weeks

Trump continues to give daily briefings – yesterday had all the transportation and healthcare executives giving reports on how they are helping the supply chain – delivering necessary products and developing safety products – like masks

There was an online/TV concert last night – elton john hosted and artists performed from their homes

NASACR had simulated race where the drivers all drove from their homes like a video game and the race was broadcast on TV

Central Park now has emergency field hospitals for the overflow of patients and for virus testing

Florida governor has issued a stay at home order for south florida

Leading healthcare companies like J&J are starting to work on the vaccine for the virus – should have something by Q1 2021

The strangest thing is happening in nature – with humans locked down in their homes – nature is coming back strong – less animals dying on roads or being hunted.  The lakes, seas, rivers, and even the canals of Venice all becoming clearer – more healthy.  Less trees being cut down.  More fish, birds literally coming out of the woodwork.

Air pollution and CO2 levels falling rapidly with less travel and traffic by humans

All beaches shut down in our town – party is over – people were not practicing social distancing

Kids started their online classes today – this could be good for them and their grades

Driveway happy hours continue at our house

I still think that starting my own consulting company is a good idea – I need to focus more on the format/outline of the business – need to create all the necessary sales decks, process decks

We had our nightly driveway happy hour with the neighbors – keeping our spirits up!

Kids will start school on Monday – all online classes now

Libya only reporting 1 case so far – must be wrong!

USA now has the most cases in the world – Italy is 2nd, China now 3rd

NYC is the epicenter for the virus in the US – more cases than most countries

NYC has 500+ deaths and 44k+ cases – crazy

Florida has 2900 cases and 29 deaths

3k+ people die each day across the world – at this pace, we would see 100k deaths per month and up to 1M if this continued for the next 12 months – with all our efforts, this should not happen

The $2T stimulus bill just passed the House and on its way to the WH for Trump to sign

Some Kentucky rep tried to block it – what a jackass!

Stock market is down today but could bump up once bill is signed by Trump

I went to the grocery store today for a few essential items – there was tape on the floor showing people where to walk and how far to stand from each other while waiting in lines – there was an eerie silence in the place – people are just scared

No family poker last night but we did have social distance happy hour with neighbors in our driveway – will probably repeat tonight

I continue to do research for my job hunt or possible new consulting company – going to focus on starting my own thing before working for someone else

My old bosses made comments on the sales pitch and site I sent their way – great feedback

I need to do all the grunt work on the project next week – possible launch 1st week of April

Another prominent person in our area is in ICU – hope he is OK

Stock market is taking off – still waiting for the $2T stimulus bill to get through the House and Trump should sign by tomorrow

The biggest weekly unemployment number came out today – 3.2M new people claimed unemployment this last week – way up from 270,000 the week before

The kids are still on lockdown – but can go out for exercise

We played family poker last night – Alana the big winner – $5

I want to play blackjack with them tonight but they might want the night off

Food supply is OK in the house – might need to get essentials soon – frozen pizza tonight and a social distancing happy hour with the neighbors in the driveway – no going into people’s houses

Sent my company idea to my old bosses and they provided feedback – good guys – smart guys

I also talked to one of my old bosses yesterday – there might be an opportunity to do some business with him – great guy – he saved me in the last recession

It is fascinating how this lockdown around the world has brought families closer together.

Kids will restart school online next week – teachers sending info this week

I continue to wake up in the middle of the night worried about finding a new job since being laid off during this crisis – good news is more $$ will be sent to unemployed folks during this time

Italy had another 700+ death – mostly people in their 80s

Spain had another 400+ deaths

UK has been put on lockdown

Stock marketing rallying on hopes $2T stimulus passes congress today – they say it is close

I’m still trying to make some $$ off this market – we will see.  It is not like I know what I am doing but feel there could be an opportunity in this free-falling market.  But it is very risky, especially since I am out of a job – though i need to take risks to survive – for my family to survive.

Beaches still open in our area – people still going to beaches – temp is in the 80s – hopefully that helps keep the virus away but who knows

We have the kids on the 2nd day of lockdown – but do let them go out for exercise and to get groceries for the family.

One bright spot on the lockdown is we spend more time together as a family.  Last night we played poker with the kids.  It was fun – Olivia won the $5 pot.

Looking forward to playing more games with the kids tonight.

Relief funds still in congress – hopefully will be released soon

2020 summer olympics have been postponed

I spent the morning buying and selling stocks – trying to make some revenue with this dropping market – trying to learn how to do this

I am also thinking of starting my own business during these tough times – focus on my selling strengths.  I have built up sales systems at a few companies successfully and want to see if I can pitch this service to other companies – calling the company oppaday – in reference to getting a sales opportunity per day

I am also working on organizing my contact lists to see where i might find a job if the new business does not work

First day of official lock down at our house – girls pushing back, saying all their friends are out and about – this is not true – we need to do our part and stay inside for now

New terms being introduced into the vocabulary –

social distancing – stay 6 feet away from each other

flattening the curve – stem the virus and have the amount of cases/deaths plateau instead of keep going up

shelter in place – stay in your home – no going out unless it is for bare necessities

California, Illinois, NY all on complete lockdown

All restaurants are now closed but you can do take out or delivery

We had our first case in our town – guy at a golf club – everyone is locking down now

We put hand wipes at our garage door for anyone coming in the house and we will lock the kids down after today – we should lock them down sooner than today but they keep pushing to go out – go to the beach – but beaches now are closing across Florida

Forgot to mention – all office workers across USA are now working from home so you see posts of folks using video and even the newscasters are working from home – you now see what everyone’s house looks like

I am still looking for a job – doing all the prep work on which companies have jobs and which contacts i have at these companies

Went to grocery store yesterday – i was a bit freaked out trying not to touch anything – wiping all the groceries down when i got home – no meat, no bread, no eggs, no pasta, no paper products at the store

Going today to take my mother to the store – probably shouldn’t see her but she can’t drive – will wipe everything down

last thing on unemployment – 70k new claims this week – they are expecting millions next week – many in hospitality laying off all workers

Florida senator calling for everyone off the beach – and we just found out someone in our town rushed to hospital with symptoms

we have 3 relatives in the UK with the virus

they will send out checks of $1200 per person in April – must be below $100k salary level – looks like we don’t get any money

i continue to look for work – getting my contacts organized

kids were supposed to be on spring break this week – we were going to look at colleges in SC and NC – colleges said don’t come – we got our money back from hotels and AirBnB

the whole town is on stayvacation – which now will probably last for the rest of the school year

on the flip side – we bought 5 tickets to boston for late may – $60 per ticket – see if we can go by then
